TNBI Health Check Request

TNBI Health Checks- what are they and how do they benefit you?

 What are they for?

  • All of our transgender, non-binary and/or intersex patients are offered an annual comprehensive health review. This is to check in with you about how you’re feeling, how your physical and mental health are, and explore your needs to work towards happier and healthier lifestyles.
  • If you are on HRT, this will give us a chance to regularly review your regime, not only from a physical health perspective, but to gain insight into your individual preferences and needs.
  • We can discuss and request referrals such as fertility preservation and voice therapy, and we can help book further appointments with our clinicians for your ongoing care. We can discuss sexual health, lifestyle choices, and community resources.
  • We can give advice on areas of gender affirming care that you are considering, and explore further options and resources that may benefit you.

How do they work?

  •  This is a 30-40 minute appointment to give the chance for two way communication between you and your clinician, for focussed, individualised care.
  • They can be conducted in person or on the phone to your preference, however, if we feel that physical checks such as blood tests or blood pressure checks are in your best interest, we may encourage you to come in to the surgery for your review, or for those specific parts.

Why do we offer them?

  •  This is a dedicated chance for us to check in with you. Helping to answer any questions or concerns you may have with your health helps us to better understand not only your individual needs but, the incredibly diverse range of areas we can help others too.
  • This is an opportunity to talk to a clinician who has an affirming and caring approach to the trans+ and intersex communities. This is a judgement and prejudice free space to discuss parts of your health and wellbeing that you may not have always felt comfortable or safe discussing.
  • The trans+ and intersex communities face barriers to accessing high quality healthcare that not every community has to face. Our annual health checks are one of the ways we aim to mend this gap.
  • Engagement with our service through attending your annual health check helps us to help others. Providing your care is how we can go on to fund our Trans Health Hub service. This allows us to expand and improve our service, learn from our patients’ experiences, and continue to improve the quality of our care as well as increase the number of patients from the trans+ and intersex communities we can help.

How do I book my TNBI Annual Health Check?

  1. You can use our regular Klinik form
  2. Or you can fill out the form below to request your annual health check. Our bookings team will send you an appointment.
  3. You can also phone in to our reception who can make this booking for you.

If you have not had a recent blood test, it is really helpful to your care to have one. If you detail this on your form, Klinik, or to our reception team, we can ensure you get a face to face appointment, or arrange a separate blood test appointment.

You can contact us via the Trans Health Hub email inbox: sxicbbh.transhealthhub@nhs.net for further advice. Please note we receive a high volume of emails and are a fairly small team. We will be in touch as soon as we can.
